South Offaly Meals on Wheels Programme

Programme Name

Offaly Healthy Homes Project

Programme Description

Offaly Healthy Homes Project offers a Meals on Wheels service to South and West Offaly in conjunction with community kitchens in Ballycumber, Kilcormac and Shinrone. Meals are delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at a cost of €6 per meal. These dinners are cooked fresh that morning and delivered hot to our clients. Cooling dinners are also available and can be kept in the fridge over-night for use the following day which means our service can cater for six days a week.  Our aim is to facilitate independence in those that cannot cater for themselves allowing people to remain in their own homes. This is a self-referral service and does not require a referral from a Public Health Nurse.

We are also involved in running social food gatherings where members of the community are brought together. Many of our clients live alone or struggle with social activity particularly during times of lockdown restrictions. The aim of the social gatherings is to bring the community together and avoid social isolation.
